The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), along with 350 other organizations, sent a letter to President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris requesting the establishment of a White House Office on Children and Youth and a White House Conference on Children and Youth to elevate the needs of children, youth, and their families.
ANA’s First Black Male President Participates in COVID-19 Vaccine Trials
Ernest Grant, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) first black male president, announced that he will be participating in new trials for the COVID-19 vaccine in efforts to combat doubt around vaccines for Black patients in the future. Grant says the opportunity gives him the chance to help nurses and practitioners across the country who are on the frontlines of the pandemic.
APsychA Administers New App to Help People with Serious Mental Illness Develop a Crisis Plan
A new mobile app, My Mental Health Crisis Plan, allows individuals who have serious mental illness to create a plan to guide their treatment during a mental health crisis. The app was developed by SMI Adviser, an initiative administered by the American Psychiatric Association (APsychA) and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
